Finance Director

Apointe is partnering with a forward-thinking construction and infrastructure business in search of a dynamic Finance Director to join their senior leadership team. This is a high-impact role offering the chance to lead a talented finance function and shape the strategic direction of the business during a key phase of growth.

You’ll work directly with the executive team to provide critical commercial insight, lead financial operations, and partner with teams across the business. If you’re a commercially minded leader who thrives in a hands-on, fast-moving environment—this one’s for you.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading, inspiring and developing the finance team to deliver accurate reporting and insightful analysis

• Supporting the Board with strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting

• Overseeing the full finance function including AP, AR, cash flow, GL and month-end reporting

• Providing commercial insight and business partnering to contract and operations teams

• Embedding robust financial controls, governance, and continuous process improvement

• Leading the production of MI, dashboards, KPIs, and supporting the Exec with board packs

• Owning statutory compliance and working closely with auditors

• Working alongside IT to ensure finance systems (Sage 200, Syrinx, WAP etc.) are scalable and effective

• Identifying and delivering opportunities for automation and system optimisation

• Monitoring working capital, covenant compliance, and financial risk

Knowledge, skills & experience:

• Previous experience in a senior finance role, ideally within construction, infrastructure or project-led environments

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)

• Commercially sharp and confident partnering with senior stakeholders

• Calm under pressure with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels

• Highly organised with a focus on insight, process and continuous improvement

• Experience of Sage 200, Syrinx, WAP or similar systems preferred

• Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on, solutions-led approach
