Interim CFO (Filled)

Apointe is partnering with a high-growth, multi-entity group business to appoint an experienced interim CFO. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a commercially minded finance leader who can quickly assess what’s working, what’s not, and put forward the changes needed. With a group turnover of £600m+, our client needs someone who can steady the ship during a key transition period – leading year-end, improving controls, and shaping the future of the finance function.

Apointe is supporting a Private Equity backed, dynamic group business with revenues of £600m+ in the search for an experienced Interim CFO. This is a pivotal role during a period of transition, providing strategic oversight and operational clarity while the long-term finance leadership structure is reviewed.

You’ll be tasked with taking stock of the existing finance setup, identifying what’s working, what’s not, and where change is required. From leading year-end to streamlining financial processes across SAP, this role offers a real opportunity to shape the financial strategy of a complex group business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the year-end process, ensuring a smooth and accurate close

  • Conduct a full review of the current finance team structure, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement

  • Own and oversee consolidated group reporting and financial performance reviews

  • Deliver process improvement across financial controls and reporting accuracy

  • Evaluate service levels across finance functions and make recommendations

  • Lead on group-wide SAP improvements and optimisation

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Exec team, contributing to strategic decisions and operational changes

  • Provide commercial insight on recurring pinch points and potential structural issues

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven track record as a CFO or FD in large, complex group environments

  • Strong experience in year-end, consolidation, and financial control leadership

  • Expertise in SAP and confidence working across business units to improve processes

  • Ability to diagnose organisational challenges and implement effective solutions

  • Pragmatic, commercial, and highly credible with senior stakeholders

  • Hands-on where required but strategic in approach

  • Available to start at short notice and comfortable with ambiguity

This is a rare chance to influence a high-growth group at a senior level, without the long-term commitment of a permanent post.
