Interim Head of Commercial Finance

As Interim Head of Commercial Finance, you’ll lead the commercial finance function and a team of Finance Business Partners, embedding commercial insight and financial rigour across the business. You’ll be the go-to finance leader for senior stakeholders, translating data into commercial actions that protect margin, improve cash conversion and support growth initiatives.

This is far from a back-office role. You’ll sit alongside the leadership team, challenge assumptions, shape commercial decisions and deliver timely, business-facing analysis that drives performance.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and develop a team of Finance Business Partners, setting priorities and ensuring high quality, commercial finance support to the business.
• Own the budgeting, forecasting and reforecast cycles, producing actionable commentary and scenario analysis.
• Deliver commercially focused management reporting to the senior leadership team and board.
• Partner with all functions to translate commercial plans into financial outcomes; support pricing, promotional and contract decisions.
• Drive initiatives to improve profitability, cash flow and working capital performance.
• Build and maintain robust financial controls and reporting frameworks for commercial activity.
• Provide ad-hoc commercial modelling and business case development for strategic projects and investments.
• Mentor and develop your team, improving stakeholder engagement, analysis quality and commercial acumen.

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong commercial finance background (senior FP&A / commercial finance) within a complex, fast-moving business.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams of Finance Business Partners.
• Highly commercial mindset able to influence senior stakeholders and translate numbers into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Strong track record of ownership for budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and commercial analysis.
• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) preferred but demonstrable commercial finance experience considered.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; confident presenting to C-suite.
